Finally! An interesting place to eat in the New Cut corridor. I've been waiting for the Colonial Gardens restaurant project to open for years! So excited that Taco Luchador is part of the group. That being said, the food did not disappoint. Tacos were flavorful and filling. I also had a sangria which was fruity and refreshing.
In the down side, there seemed to be alot of flies coming in from the open garage doors and we would have eaten out side but there was no shade from the blistering mid day sun.
We will definitely be regulars-just get rid of the flies. -

First I'm glad that more businesses are opening up in the Southend. We deserve local hot spots and foodie experiences. So when I found out Taco Luchador was opening up in the new Colonial Gardens I was ecstatic. I've heard fantastic things about this place, and when I tried to eat at the Highlands location the line was out the door.
Unfortunately, my experience didn't match the fervor that surrounds this restaurant. I ordered the Mole Fries ($4.99), Mole Taco ($3.75), and the Asada Taco ($4.25). I didn't like any of it. Didn't even finish it. The Asada Taco was the only thing I could manage more than one bite of, and that was after I slathered it in all of their sauces (which were good btw). I made a rookie mistake and ordered two things that contained Mole sauce, before I realized I either don't like Mole sauce or I just don't like theirs. The cinnamon taste was overwhelming and off putting, that after a couple of fries and a half bite of the taco I had to throw both away.
The upside is that the decor is bright and cheerful and puts an instant smile on your face. Although I think I would pass on the food here I would like to try some drinks one night to continue to support a business that took a chance on the Southend. -

This is the 5th location for this excellent restaurant but the first restaurant to open in Colonial Gardens, a newly renovated area across from Iroquois Park. The South End has been starving for a location like this. Not onlyis the atmosphere inviting and with a fiesta vibe, but the food is freshly made on-site and delicious.

After being open for a couple of months now we finally made it a saturday afternoon luncheon. There were 6 of us and we all had different things all of which were good. I had two tacos and was thinking it would not be enough food. However with each taco you get two small floor tortillas and there is enough filling in each to make 2 tacos. So in essence you are getting two tacos for about $4. So not a bad deal. All ingredients were fresh and the tastes were so different from what you get at a traditional mexican restaurant. So a nice change of flavors. This restaurant is located in the old colonial gardens and was so needed in the southend of Louisville . It shares space with Union 15 pizza and two more eateries will go into the same space. Each is a separate restaurant but they share a courtyard which will be great in the summer months. We ordered guacamole and chips and an order of plantains. Both were excellent. I cant wait to go back and try other options. Parking maybe an issue in the attached lot but there is space to park across the street at either the bank or in Iroquois park. So excited to have new dining options so close to home. You order at the counter and they bring your food. Service was good and staff friendly..

Consisentebtly good Mexican food with probably the best dining room of all the Taco luchadors. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food is always extremely flavorful and well priced.
